This is the first cake project I took after the 5 days cake camp in the summer.
My co-worker, MK, said “We need to challenge your new skill, would you create a Snow White cake for Xochitl birthday.” While nervous about how it would turn out, I agreed to the challenge. Perfectionism aside, I was very excited.
MK then said “Wow you outdo yourself.” I was happy too, but deep inside I wish I could have more time. I would have made the arms smoother.
For this cake I used my chocolate cake recipe that I learned at the cake camp. The fondant I ordered online.
I also made some extra princess heads and torso from gumpaste and fondant, just in case the figurine got damaged.
MK told me about the reaction of her daughter after seeing the cake: “Oh nice, but where’s the cake?” This is the kind of reaction that gave a cake artist the motivation to keep on moving, to create a better cake while still learning in the process.
Wait a minute…am I a cake artist? An amateur that is still learning. That’s how I describe myself at this moment.
