“It takes a long time to become young.” – Pablo Picasso.
This was a cake that had been planned for the summer. Kevin’s mom wanted to surprise her son, but Aldy suggested to wait for his birthday. I agree because time move fast, his birthday would be here in no time. I finished the cake a day before because I was working on his birthday. The cake is a white and yellow cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.
The theme of this cake is an 18x12x4 inches opened comic book, with half body of Spiderman popped up on top and his signature spider hand is out holding a banner that says “Happy 10th Birthday, Kevin!” I ordered the edible images online because Aldy said “I don’t want the hassle of that machine printing edible pictures at home.” Handling the edible images are very easy: freeze it for 2 minutes, cut with a scissor, peel them off, a drop of water to make them stick, and here is the opened comic book. It really looks like an opened comic book, right?
As you can see I started making the Spiderman half body approximately 5 days before, in order to make sure the gum paste is thoroughly dry before I put it on top of the cake.
Kevin’s mom was so happy, and she said everybody loves the cake.
Happy Birthday Kevin!
